Here's Exactly How To Be A Savvy Shopper

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

Let's face it, shopping can be a daunting task, especially if you don't have a game plan. Don't get me wrong, I love a good leisurely shopping trip, but it's nothing if you're not being a savvy shopper. Even if you're not an expert, it ~is~ possible to shop smartly.

And the best part is that it's no at all complicated. You just have to know what you're doing and what to take advantage of. (Politely!)

These are the four major ways to be a savvy shopper: (& be sure to watch the video as well!)

Take Advantage of Deals & Apps
The first one that comes to mind under this category is Target's app, Cartwheel. Though the store doesn't have your typical sales, you can actually save so much with Cartwheel by browsing deals. Many other stores have apps like this as well that you can use to help you shop.

Don’t Pay Retail
Piggybacking off the first step, don't pay retail when at all possible! I say this as someone who spent four years in the retail industry- the industry is over-saturated & overpriced. Consumers are no longer satisfied paying retail prices, as it should be! Who doesn't love finding a great deal? My favorite way to do this is by shopping off-retail stores (think Nordstrom Rack) as well as thrifting. This is major!

Buy Now, Try On Later
I can't take credit for this one- I learned it from Lauren Messiah. But let's be real, dressing rooms suck the fun out of shopping. Unflattering mirrors, noisy neighbors, and the LIGHTING!

Horrid. By buying your TOP picks sans try on, taking them home, and then trying everything on in the privacy of your own home (& better lighting) you're actually saving yourself trouble. I know, I know, having to make another trip to return is a hassle, but which would you rather? Unpleasant & discouraging fitting room or customer service line?

Use Personal Shopper Services
Stores like Nordstrom have personal shopping perks for FREE! You can tip, of course, (& you should) but they're there for you, built right in to your shopping experience.

Why not use them? If you need a little extra shopping help it could be right at your fingertips.
