How To Create A Travel Wardrobe

Friday, June 21, 2019

Putting together a travel wardrobe is one of the most important parts of packing for a trip. It is what you wear, after all, and it could set the whole mood of the trip. You want to be efficient (especially if you're trying to get it all on a carry on, which we'll talk about soon) and cohesive.

So how do you do it?

Remember the post on capsule wardrobes awhile back? When packing for a vacation/ travel wardrobe, you'll want to adopt some of the capsule mindset.

The first thing to do is check any weather alerts for the area you're traveling to. Be aware of any extreme temperatures and prepare accordingly.

When packing for travel, picking cohesive pieces is important- things you can take and make multiple outfits out of. What I like to do is think of the environment & any events I know I'll be doing. Say if I'm going for a wedding, I know that the dress is the main thing I'll be packing. However, I also want to account for anything else happening.

Making a spreadsheet- or at least a list- is imperative when planning. I like to put everything into categories- i.e. dresses, shorts, etc, so that everything is laid out and I can see what's what. If I'm traveling in the summer you KNOW the majority of my wardrobe will consist of dresses, so when packing accessories I try to see what will work.

If you have at least a little bit of an idea and put pen to paper, it can make actual packing much easier.

Though it can seem intimidating, creating a travel wardrobe is actually pretty simple! Let me know how do your planning below.
