Purchasing Pieces That Will Last

Friday, April 26, 2019

I actually covered this topic in last week's IG live, (if you don't know, I do lives every Sunday) but I wanted to cover it again because I think this is important.

Your wardrobe should be founded on the basics & classics, and then trends if you want to do them. But the classics- the things that will last over & over- are what's most important.

But how do you purchase them? It's a no-brainer that you should save most investments for the non-trend pieces, but what about when you're on a budget & still wanting to invest in your wardrobe?

Much like when shopping sustainably, (which should be our first option by now, as we've learned) you're gonna want to look at off retailer & consignment shops for investments.

But before you even do that, you should take an inventory of your wardrobe and look at what you might need. (or want) What are the items you want to invest in the most? Make sure they line up with your personal style, whether it be a bag or dress.

Some classic things I suggest investing in:
LBD, trench coat, statement bag, red pumps, silk skirt.

THEN you'll do the digging for it! (& yes, you may have to dig a little but it will be worth it) Search off-retailer first- as they come straight from the rack- and then consignment & thrift.

Making investments in your wardrobe is possibly THE best thing you can do for yourself when it comes to your style! Make sure you invest in the right items & you'll have a closet built on lasting pieces.
