How I'm Incorporating New Accessories Into My Routine

Incorporating Accessories

I haven't been able to wear earrings in two months (if you missed my many IG stories on it- long story short my earlobe ripped from an old injury & I'm still in the market for a surgeon-- this is a cry for help) and it's caused a sort of identity crisis- I didn't realize just how much I relied on an earring to accessorize.

It was my main jewelry piece for so long that I was stuck on what to do when it was no longer an option. I realized that I had pretty much stopped wearing bracelets, I wasn't creative with my necklace options anymore, and don't even get me started on hair accessories.

Sometimes the teacher must become the student, & the hole in my ear (I've named her Sarah Jessica) has actually forced me to get creative with things.

Like I said, I had all but abandoned my bracelets for longer than I'd like to admit. But then I got my bracelet display, & it forced me to actually look at my collection and start wearing them again.

I tend to gravitate toward the more delicate pieces, though I do have a few statement ones I like playing around with. Now the life has been brought back to them, pairing them mostly with short sleeve numbers, (because what’s the point with sweaters) pulling the look together in a whole new way.

How I'm Incorporating Accessories Into My Routine

I haven’t been a proper necklace person in years, but I’ve been getting back into layering delicate ones along a statement sometimes. I used to LOVE a good statement necklace, but I stopped wearing them so much after I got into statement earrings. Now I like wearing them with a simple dress to elevate the look. (ugh I hate that word but I can’t think of another descriptive)

Hair Accessories
Perhaps the one that has me most excited is the resurgence of the hair accessory. Blame Gossip Girl, (always relevant in pop culture) blame instagram, but pretty headbands & barrettes are back with a bang. I didn't start incorporating them because they were ~on trend~ so much as I'd been wanting some new things to do with my short hair, and I've found that they're another kind of accessory that can tie a whole look together. It brings something to the table & that's what you want in an accessory.

Hair Barrettes

Do you tend to gravitate towards one accessory in particular or are you an all-in-one-kinda gal?

& if you know of any plastic surgeons in DFW, PLEASE send them my way! (& if you're thinking, kaeleen, why don't you just go to your old one? He's retired.
