Style Psychology | The Art Of Remaining Stylish When You Don't Feel Like It

A question I was asked on IG recently was how I remain stylish even when busy & anxious.

A tradition that I've had with myself since I was young enough for my mom to still buy my clothes is getting a new Easter outfit every year.

How Instagram Is Killing Fashion (& The Environment)

Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Scroll through instagram for any number of time & you can guarantee you'll see influencers wearing & promoting fast fashion brands. We've just covered why fast fashion should no longer be our first choice and instagram culture certainly hasn't helped anything.

What To Wear To Spring Occasions (Including Easter!)

Monday, April 15, 2019

I know Easter is literally this Sunday, but I have hopes that you’ll take this post & use it as inspiration for in store shopping. (Or even next day shipping...)

The Leopard Edit

Friday, April 12, 2019

I've written about my love of leopard before, & I think it's safe to say it's not going anywhere. Of all the animal prints, I think it's the chicest, and there are ways to wear it without looking like it's 2007 & you've just stepped out of Justice.

How I'm Combating The Quarter Life Crisis

Wednesday, April 10, 2019

My twenty fifth birthday is in exactly two months and sixteen days, and the quarter life crisis has been slowly building up for months. You could say I’ve been in the midst of one since I entered my twenties, but it’s escalated to a full blown freak out.

A Practical Guide To Shopping Sustainably (On A Budget!)

Monday, April 8, 2019

In the past I've mentioned working towards shopping less fast fashion & starting to focus more on sustainability. Not only are sweatshops and horrid working conditions a factor, the environment is another biggie.
Did you know that more than 15 MILLION tons of used clothing waste end up in landfills in the US each year?

How To Do Festival Wear The Right Way

Friday, April 5, 2019

Though it's on my bucket list, I've never been to a music festival. As fun as I think it would be, I'm sure I'd end up having a tiny panic attack and crying or maybe having too much to drink and uh oh, still crying. But at least my outfit would look good, right? I digress.

The Wavy Hair Diaries | I Styled My Hair Natural For A Week

Friday, March 29, 2019

The older I get, the more I realize hair isn't just hair. It's part of the whole package, linked to our personal style, and in turn, who we are. When you put on an outfit that makes you feel the most YOU, you want your hair to match. It's a thing.

How To Wear Longline Blazer

Longline blazers are a flattering silhouette, but how are they worn?

Can people under five foot pull them off? (I'm in this boat, if ya didn't know)

How We Should Be Caring For Our Clothes

I'll admit that up until a few months ago, I hadn't been caring for my clothes like I should have been. Sure, I washed them and did the occasional pill shave, but other than that there wasn't much done.

Ways To Wear Slip On Sneakers

Perhaps the ~non-trend~ spring trend I'm most into at the moment is the slip on sneaker. I bought myself a pair a little over a month ago & I've been having fun styling them different ways.

What Kae Wore | Spring Break

Monday, March 18, 2019

It's been a minute since I've done a What Kae Wore! My cousin & her family came into town for spring break & I'm still awful at taking photos when it comes to outings.

Style Psychology | Why What You Wear Matters
{via}
I’m sure you’ve heard that it takes only seven seconds for someone to make a first impression. Seven. Seconds.

In the time it takes to introduce yourself, the other person has passed judgement on you. & it’s not about how you say your name or how firm of a handshake you have.

I saw a tweet the other day that really ground my gears, probably more than it should have but what can I say? I'm fired up about style.

A Letter To You On Women's Day

A Letter To You On Women's Day

I contemplated what my annual women's post topic should cover this year. In fact, I nearly did a post on the lessons we've learned from women, then changed my mind at the last second.

Maybe I'll save that for another time, or next women's day. But this year I wanted to write a little note to you, a love letter of sorts.

Shop With A Purpose (Get the FREE Planner Worksheet!)

I'm a big believer in shopping with a purpose. Of course it doesn't always work out that way, the inevitable 'I just went into Target for vitamins how did this happen' trip hitting me more times than I'd like to admit.

Why Caring About Fashion Isn't A Bad Thing

Why Caring About Fashion Isn't A Bad Thing

There's this long-standing myth that fashion is frivolous, & if you care about it you must be vapid and one dimensional. It may not be as bad as it once was, but I still see it. The truth is, there is so much more to fashion than just fashion shows & shopping, especially in the haute couture world. And don't even get me started on personal style & why it's important

Style Psychology | Why We Emotional Shop

T-Shirt Dress With Cardigan

Let me set the scene. Something's made you emotional, you feel a bit out of control, and need something to help you STAT.

Somehow, you end up at the mall or the closest store and two hours later your bank account is crying and so are you. 'Why does this keep happening?' You wonder underneath the pile of stuff.

Explaining The Trickle Down Effect In Fashion

Today we're doing a bit of Fashion 101- explaining the trickle down effect. Inspired by Kim K.'s recent tweets denouncing it, I wanted to touch on what exactly it is and why it's necessary.

The See Kae Style Newsletter

Y'ALL.

I've been thinking about starting a newsletter since 2017. That's TWO YEARS of agonizing & going back and forth & ultimately putting it on the back burner.

Why would I need a newsletter? Would people even read it?

How I'm Incorporating New Accessories Into My Routine

Wednesday, February 20, 2019

Incorporating Accessories

I haven't been able to wear earrings in two months (if you missed my many IG stories on it- long story short my earlobe ripped from an old injury & I'm still in the market for a surgeon-- this is a cry for help) and it's caused a sort of identity crisis- I didn't realize just how much I relied on an earring to accessorize.

How To Wear Graphic Tees As An Adult

Graphic Tee Styled With Blazer

Graphic tees are one of those pieces from your adolescence that can be brought into adulthood if done the right way.

For clarification, I’m not talking about the tees you find in the juniors department with the puns, albeit funny, those need to stay gone. We’re talking band/concert tees and the occasional ~cutesy~ tee. (Like this dog mom one I have

The Spring Shoe Edit

While I love a good boot, the spring shoes are WHERE IT'S AT. Each year I get more excited than the last about the fact that strappy sandals & open toe heels are back in action.

That being said, today's edit is on my favorite shoes that you need to add to your wardrobe:

I had originally planned a video to go along with this, but if you follow me on stories you know I've been sick, & I wanted to go ahead and get this post out because it's SUPER IMPORTANT. I've been doing a lot of research lately on the psychology of style & fashion and I want to start covering some of the topics.

LET’S TALK VALENTINE’S DAY:

How do you feel about it?

Though I’ve never been a huge fan of the holiday (why do we have one day to focus on our S/O? Shouldn’t it be every day?) I do love the concept of galentine’s day & celebrating friendship. Thank you, Leslie Knope!

How To Look Expensive (When You've Really Just Looked At Your Online Cart & Cried)

Metallic Bodysuit & Cardigan

One question often asked is how to put expensive looking outfits together while on a less than expensive budget. As much as I would love to be able to score high end pieces at their original value & not even worry, it's just not realistic at this point in my life, & my stats show it's not for y'all either.

How To Wear Denim On Denim

Before we go any further, we should just give a quick moment of silence for Brit & JT. Ah, the golden era.

Okay, so, it was the golden era in every way except the famous (or maybe infamous) denim on denim AMAs look. Complete with the cowboy hat to really set the mood, that moment was when the double denim look went DOA. For years since, it's been considered a faux pas, only whispered about in loathing.

Your Ultimate Basics Checklist

Friday, January 25, 2019

Basics are the KEY to building a wardrobe. I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’ve heard this, but there are so many things that could be considered ~basics~ and it can be hard to break it down for your wardrobe needs.

So, I’ve created a FREE cheatsheet just for you, full of the essentials & basics that I believe every woman should have in her closet to build on. Print this out, hang it in your closet, whatever you need!

On Faith & Mental Illness

Wednesday, January 23, 2019

The first time I went to a Christian based therapist, I was freshly home on a university ~sabbatical~ trying to understand why my brain was working the way it was, (read: it wasn't) & I was willing to try anything I could get my hands on, & I'm a Christian so obviously a therapist with the same values will be of great help to me, right?

As I sat on the stuffy couch, trying to explain things as well as my jumbled mind could, I realized I was sorely mistaken.

Spring Trends You Need To Know About

I know we've just packed away our Christmas decorations & rang in the new year, but it's time to start thinking SPRING. Fashion is always a step ahead, no?

While I don't think your wardrobe should be strictly trend-based, I do think it's smart to have a good mix of classics & trends.

Here's just a few that we'll be seeing come S/S:

How The Apple Watch Made Me Work Out More

First, I should probably start out this post by saying it's #notspon (although if you're reading this, Apple...)

After many weeks of researching, I finally broke down & got an Apple Watch towards the end of the year. (I think it was November, but time has no meaning to me anymore)

Everything You Need To Know About Shopping Amazon Prime Fashion

Your Guide To Shopping Amazon Prime
When it comes to online shopping, I pretty much stick to the stores I'm comfortable with sizing wise, (mainly forever 21 & asos) but you just can't escape amazon fashion. They've been really stepping up their game, with new brands & new ways for you to try clothes.

Even though I was hesitant about it for awhile, I finally decided to see what the hype was, slowly but surely, starting out with this dress I bought for Christmas.
