Styling Summer Dresses

Friday, June 14, 2019

Dresses are a major staple of my personal style. They're a piece I feel very Kaeleen (perhaps the most?) in, feminine & ready to take on whatever comes my way. It's a good thing too, because in the atrociously hot Texas summers it's about all I can bare to throw on!

My Exact Formula For Planning & Putting Outfits Together

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

Putting outfits together can feel daunting if you don't have a plan. Trust me, I've been there. You open your closet, look around, and realize you have no idea what to wear.

You plan for everything in life- why not what you wear? I always plan out what I'm going to wear the next day the night before, but if you want to be even more organized you can plan your week's outfits out on Sunday night. I need to start doing that!

Fashion Documentaries You Should Be Watching

Monday, June 10, 2019

I'm a huge documentary girl, and true crimes and fashion (of course) are my two main picks. I think immersing yourself into fashion as much as you can is extremely helpful when trying to develop & keep a personal style. It's also good to know what's trending, and sometimes you just wanna watch a good docu!

So here are the four documentaries you MUST watch, hand-picked:

Developing (& Polishing) Your Personal Style

Friday, June 7, 2019

I talk A LOT about curating a personal style. It's so important in building a cohesive wardrobe, shopping with intention, putting outfits together, and overall having a sense of what you like to wear.

But if you've never developed a personal style, where do you begin? I wrote a small post on this topic a few years ago, but things have changed a bit and it's time to dive DEEP.

So, first things first.

The Four Summers Trend To Know About

I covered spring trends at the beginning of the season, so I thought it was only appropriate to let you in on some summer trends. Remember- when working with trends pick a couple that speak to you and incorporate them into your style.

June happens to be one of my favorite months. It's the beginning of summer & my birthday month (that I get to share with Pride!) plus it's the middle of the year- the perfect time to take inventory of where you're at & reflect. Go on new adventures, wear new outfits, etc. etc.

My New Favorite Purchase

Since being more conscious of sustainable shopping, my purchases have been more intentional, (for the most part) only searching for things I could really use.

Styling Prints On Prints

Friday, May 24, 2019

Prints on prints is a styling method that a lot of people shy away from because they don't think they can pull it off, (I used to be scared to do it) but it’s actually a simple pattern mixing that you can pull  it off if you follow a few rules:

Capsule Wardrobe 101: The What, How, And Why Of Creating A Curated Closet

Wednesday, May 22, 2019

A couple of looks at my posts & it's enough to know that I currently do NOT practice the capsule wardrobe method, but it's something that interests me & according to the IG polls, it interests y'all too. So today we're diving deep!

The Right Way To Wear Leggings As An Adult

Wearing Leggings As An Adult
{via}

Leggings might be one of the most controversial pieces of clothing, mainly because of the are leggings pants debate. Well I'm here to answer that question: NO.

End post! Just kidding. There's actually quite a bit to cover on this topic. We know walking around interchanging pants & leggings is a no-go, but what is a go?

Three Signs You Might Need A Stylist

Friday, May 17, 2019

Let's be real: everyone could benefit from having a stylist. Someone buying clothes for you based on body type, fit, and style?

Yes please!

But things take an urgent turn when you're in a rut & you don't know up from down when it comes to your clothes.

So, what are the signs you definitely need a stylist?

Style Psychology | Pop Culture's Impact On Fashion

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

When you hear the words 'The Rachel', you're instantly transported to '94, (or like, the idea of it since if you're my age you were a literal infant) choppy hair and all. I once read that for a couple of years her photo was the one most brought in to a stylist.

The Easiest Way To Style Gingham This Spring/ Summer

Monday, May 13, 2019

I've been talking about classic prints lately and I'd definitely add gingham to the list.

It's a classic spring print and with the rise of the square neck, what better way to wear it?

Does Your Wardrobe Need A Refresh?

Friday, May 10, 2019

IT'S TIME FOR A STYLE QUIZ:

Do you:

1. Feel like you don't have the time to shop for new things in your wardrobe?
2. Look at your closet full of clothes every morning and think 'I have nothing to wear!'
3. Want to learn how to make more outfits out of fewer pieces?

If you answered "yes" to any of these, you're in need of a wardrobe refresh!

Have I said that enough times recently? Good, I'll say it some more because it might be the most important thing you read today. What you wear- how you present yourself to the world- matters, & that includes in the workplace.

How To Style The Denim Dress

Monday, May 6, 2019

I've been an advocate for all things denim for ages, so obviously I'm very into the staple denim dress. It's a piece that I believe could be considered a basic that you should have on hand, as it's versatile & can be easily switched up.

Style Psychology | The Science Behind Funeral Wear

Friday, May 3, 2019

My friend- whom we'll call Phoebe for the sake of this post- once tasked me with helping her find a dress for a loved one's funeral. I obliged, itching to do anything to help. When I asked Phoebe what we were looking for she had only one request: something cheap, so she could toss it after.

I've recently been very into the Who What Wear line-- their pieces are classic & they do trends in a way where they can be worn over & over.

Purchasing Pieces That Will Last

Friday, April 26, 2019

I actually covered this topic in last week's IG live, (if you don't know, I do lives every Sunday) but I wanted to cover it again because I think this is important.

Your wardrobe should be founded on the basics & classics, and then trends if you want to do them. But the classics- the things that will last over & over- are what's most important.

The Leopard Edit

Friday, April 12, 2019

I've written about my love of leopard before, & I think it's safe to say it's not going anywhere. Of all the animal prints, I think it's the chicest, and there are ways to wear it without looking like it's 2007 & you've just stepped out of Justice.

How I'm Combating The Quarter Life Crisis

Wednesday, April 10, 2019

My twenty fifth birthday is in exactly two months and sixteen days, and the quarter life crisis has been slowly building up for months. You could say I’ve been in the midst of one since I entered my twenties, but it’s escalated to a full blown freak out.

A Practical Guide To Shopping Sustainably (On A Budget!)

Monday, April 8, 2019

In the past I've mentioned working towards shopping less fast fashion & starting to focus more on sustainability. Not only are sweatshops and horrid working conditions a factor, the environment is another biggie.
Did you know that more than 15 MILLION tons of used clothing waste end up in landfills in the US each year?

How To Do Festival Wear The Right Way

Friday, April 5, 2019

Though it's on my bucket list, I've never been to a music festival. As fun as I think it would be, I'm sure I'd end up having a tiny panic attack and crying or maybe having too much to drink and uh oh, still crying. But at least my outfit would look good, right? I digress.

How We Should Be Caring For Our Clothes

I’m sure you’ve heard that it takes only seven seconds for someone to make a first impression. Seven. Seconds.

In the time it takes to introduce yourself, the other person has passed judgement on you. & it’s not about how you say your name or how firm of a handshake you have.

A Letter To You On Women's Day

A Letter To You On Women's Day

I contemplated what my annual women's post topic should cover this year. In fact, I nearly did a post on the lessons we've learned from women, then changed my mind at the last second.

Maybe I'll save that for another time, or next women's day. But this year I wanted to write a little note to you, a love letter of sorts.

Shop With A Purpose (Get the FREE Planner Worksheet!)

I'm a big believer in shopping with a purpose. Of course it doesn't always work out that way, the inevitable 'I just went into Target for vitamins how did this happen' trip hitting me more times than I'd like to admit.

Why Caring About Fashion Isn't A Bad Thing

Why Caring About Fashion Isn't A Bad Thing

There's this long-standing myth that fashion is frivolous, & if you care about it you must be vapid and one dimensional. It may not be as bad as it once was, but I still see it. The truth is, there is so much more to fashion than just fashion shows & shopping, especially in the haute couture world. And don't even get me started on personal style & why it's important
