Three Habits For Waking Earlier

I’ve never been a morning person. My inner self ~wants~ to be one, rising at 5am to drink my coffee, do my yoga & walk stevez all before time for work. But my outer self says eeehh we’re not there yet.

With the job I have now (with regular hours!) I was forced to make myself set my alarm for 6:30am every weekday morning, which is fine by me honestly. I'm still moving toward getting up even earlier, but if you’re wanting to start good habits for rising early, you've come to the right place. I've FINALLY gotten into a groove now that I have a consistent schedule, & even though not every night/ morning is the same it's ~pretty much~ consistent.

1// No Screentime Before Bed
I KNOW. This has by far been the hardest one for me over the years. I've been slowly but surely getting there, coming a long way from brushing off my mom's warnings back in high school. 'yeah yeah, sure okay maybe it does that to SOME PEOPLE, but I got this.' lol think again, kae. If you want to start getting up earlier, that means going to sleep a bit earlier as well, & a first step to that is putting down the phone & even the computer at least an hour before sleep. Anything electronic is extremely stimulating to the brain- blame the blue light.

2// Start Small
Because of my job's start time, I didn't really have a chance to do this one, I just had to jump all in. But if you do have the chance, aim for getting up half an hour earlier than the night before, until you reach your goal time. This method means much less of a shock to your body & your brain, & you're more likely to not shut off your alarm four times in a row.

3// Set Goals
I once read that writing down things you want to get done the next day, not necessarily ~needs~ but things you're excited about, will aid in getting up early. Sometimes it's worked for me & sometimes not, but it's worth a shot. If you want to give yourself some time before you have to start getting ready for work/ the day, write it down. I'm personally v excited for coffee in the mornings. Whatever you're excited about, write it down & set it next to your phone or alarm, if you have a real one.

Habits take 28 days to form, they say, so stick with these tips & you'll be good to go!
