In the hustle & bustle of life it can be easy to start to feel negative and down. Whether it's a text left on read or an unexpected circumstance, all feelings of happiness & positivity can be POOF, gone as quickly as they came. While it's not always simple to dig ourselves out of it, (hey, mental illness!) it's important to learn how to.

So how do we do it? How do we shake it?

First, remember that it's okay to not feel okay. 
You're not going to be 100% at all times, it's just not possible. The important thing is to not be hard on yourself, let yourself feel all the feelings. 

Cry, watch netflix, eat all the domino's & cookie dough it takes, then figure out your next step. Don't overanalyze, don't beat yourself up.

Mix It Up
I've talked about changing up your surroundings before, & there's a reason for that; it works. In fact, I'm writing this from a starbucks, iced chai latte beside me, (I know, I'm surprising even myself by not having a coffee) the gentle whir of the espresso machine & chats of strangers accompanying my blogging session. It's a simple step that can be all your mind needs for a little rejuvenation.

Surround Yourself With Good Vibes
I feel the term 'good vibes' has gotten a little overused, now strung in pretty fonts on t-shirts & wall art, something straight out of pinterest. But the intentions are good as the practice of surrounding yourself with only positive energy has proven to be effective.

That goes from the people you surround yourself with to the media you consume, ESPECIALLY social media. If you follow accounts that make you envious or down on yourself, unfollow them. Only follow accounts that make you feel happy, calm, inspired, or all of the above.

Find Mantras To Live By
Mantras are something I used to find a little cutesy & I thought 'do those even work??" spoiler: they do. This kind of goes with the good vibes thing; you also have to put positive energy out there. Don't even have negative self talk in your vocabulary. Pick a mantra that makes sense for you & repeat it daily. One of my favorites is from yoga with adriene, & it goes 'Everything Is As It Should Be.'
