Okay. So. The mid-season finale happened last night and all I can say is wow. Just wow. I wasn't ready. {Spoilers ahead y'all}

My anxiety was like, legitimately on another level about this episode. It was being built up so much and I knew that someone was going to die and even though I had my theories, I was still really nervous. {If you haven't figured this out yet, I get really into my shows} Let's start from the beginning shall we?

I knew that something wasn't right when Spencer wasn't with the others in the opening sequence. I didn't know where she was and for a second I thought, What if she's the one? Also, whoever was murdered died on Thanksgiving. What a bummer.

So thirty six hours earlier, the girls decided to ask Mona for help, because quote, "She's Mona" {Perfectly acceptable reason} and she's been on the inside. I was actually surprised at how genuine Mona was being when she said she wanted to help them, but then again Mona is always a surprise for me. You never quite know what she's up to, which is why I wasn't sure about her MO when she was talking to Lucas. Turns out, they were just trying to break into the police department's files to get the video of Ali's lie detector test.

I agree with Mona on Alison being A. Ali's little smirk when Emily told her "I don't want things to be like this" just confirms the ulterior motives. And then she got super defensive with Emily when she found out the girls' theory. I smell A......

Mona was able to get the police files and the girls found out that the police were looking at Spencer as the killer of Bethany Young. Of course. I could've told you that was going to happen. She obviously didn't do it, but the Rosewood police are clueless, which is why I totally called them arresting her. The look on Toby's face when they put her in handcuffs... heartbreaking.

Toby. Toby. Toby. I had another is this who dies moment when he got into the car wreck. But, thank goodness he was okay, only suffering a broken leg. At least it wasn't him that was broken.

Throughout the episode, there were tiny clues that started leading me to believe that Mona was going to be the one who died. Finally meeting her mom, a heart to heart with Hanna... just little things added up. Here's the thing. At first I was sure it was Ali that broke into Mona's house and did the dirty work, but now I'm not totally sure. Why didn't they show the girl's face? And the blonde hair could've been a wig.

Alison's face when everyone was outside Mona's house was pretty incriminating, though. She didn't look the least bit upset. She just looked ever so smug. Is she just incapable of feeling, or is she the guilty one? I think she's guilty in either situation. I think she's been orchestrating the entire thing the entire time. Whether she hired someone to get rid of Mona or did it herself, I believe she's responsible. I've been wrong before, however...

Let's take a moment for Mona. She was the character we loved to hate. She's been there since the very beginning. We'll miss your crazy antics and fabulous outfits.

Now all I have to say is, winter premiere, come soon please.

Growin' it out.

Dear bob, or "The Hayden" as I so graciously dubbed you,

It's been real. We've had some good times together. People loved you. So did I. I still do. But it's time to move on. I know, I know, I said I'd never go back to long hair. But people change. Grow. {No pun intended.} Don't be upset. It's not you, I promise. Thanks for the memories.

When I chopped my hair, I was so ready for a change and over my long hair, and I loved the short so much that I swore I would never go back. But I feel like it's run its course. I'm starting to once again long for messy buns and side braids and long curls.

If I had it my way, I would just twitch my nose like Samantha Stevens and my hair would be juuust the perfect length. Sadly, that is not the way real life works. To get to that perfect stage, I'm gonna have to go through the "growing out" stages that feel like they take forever first. I'd never had an angled cut before this, so when I first decided I wanted to grow it out, I thought I was going to have to deal with awkward, less-than-flattering phases. However, thanks to google and many hours scouring pinterest, I've found that there are lotsa fun ways to deal with waiting for length.

The first most obvious stage for growing is the lob, which I love the look of and I've had a variation of before, so I'm ready for it. I'm visiting my stylist in a couple of weeks and poor thing won't know what hit her with all my hair talk. Maybe I'll just print out this post to show her. That would be interesting.

Here's some styles I'm lovin'......

{photos via pinterest}

Trying to grow out your hair can be a long and exhausting process, but I'm up for the challenge. And who knows? My mind might change again and have things chopped. But that's the thing about hair. It always grows back.

High Five For Friday

Friday, August 22, 2014

It's hard to believe that Friday has already come around again! I'm glad to see the weekend though. Who isn't?

Here's a look at some of my favorite moments from this week...

1// This song. The upcoming album. So much yes.

2// #CandidlyNicole. I've caught up on the episodes and I laughed the whole way through. Is Nicole Richie even real?

3// The Ice Bucket Challenge found its way to me and I happily obliged. And happily donated. If this challenge is raising millions a day for ALS, I say why not bare the cold?

4// If you like online shopping, you will love this website. Always looking for a good bargain.

5// Aaaand something pretty special: I'm now offering sponsorship options! It's starting out small and will grow with the blog. Wanna check it out?

Watch it

Thursday, August 21, 2014

I've been having such fun figuring out how to style my watch.

I like being able to dress it up, and then also pairing it with a simple outfit. Stacking arm candy is fun too, but sometimes the watch should be the focus, am I right?

Dress | Mossimo
Wedges | American Eagle
Bag | Kate Landry
Sunglasses | Kenneth Cole
Watch | Folio

So okay. This week's PLL was a bit of a doozy. Best episode of the season? Not so sure. But there were plenty of omg-what-is-happening moments. Like... maybe even more than usual. {Spoilers ahead.}

First off, after much drawn out drama, we finally learn Melissa's secret. She saw Spencer the night Ali disappeared. She saw Bethany Young on the ground. She thought Spencer killed her. So she buried the body, but Bethany was still alive. This kind of explains Melissa's behavior over the past few years. She was hiding a huge secret, and she was only trying to protect Spencer. {Or so she says. I'm still not sure I fully trust her.}

This brings up another thought. The girls acknowledged that Alison and Bethany had to have matching yellow shirts. Why though? Was it all planned? I sill say twin theory. Also, I still don't understand this thing about Cyrus. {What kinda first name is that anyway}

Hanna is rightfully worried about Caleb, and he finally reveals that Ravenswood is what has been haunting him. I feel like that's alluding to something, but maybe it's just me.

Am I the only one who actually felt a little bad for Mona? Either she's a better actress than we thought, or she was actually being genuine with Aria. And she seems so genuinely scared of Alison.

Aaaand speaking of Alison, it seems that the girls are in agreement that Ali has at least some connection to A. Emily even called her "A" accidentally. It certainly seems possible. After all, she's been sketchy as ever since she came back and still drags the girls down with her. Who's to say this isn't some big warped thing she's got going on?

The preview for the midseason finale though. Oh. My. Gosh.

Music in my mind.

You hear people say the phrase shake it off a lot. Boy problems? Shake it off. Bad hair day? Shake it off. There's usually a lot of eye rolling accompanied with this phrase, at least for me. The idea of shaking things off and letting them roll off your shoulders seems so unrealistic. How can you just not care?

I'm beginning to think that while it may be impossible to be totally apathetic to things that happen or what people say, we do have a choice in how we deal with it. It's easy to dwell and shut yourself off, not wanting to try anymore. But that's the thing. No matter how you react, people are going to do what they want. So instead of dwelling, why not make the best of it? Why not do what you want as well?

"I've had to learn that people can say whatever they want about us, at any time. And we cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction to it. You can either let it get to you, let it change you, let it make you bitter or not trust people, or you could descend into insanity if you want. Option two: you can just shake it off.” -Taylor Swift.

Maybe it's like having music in your mind. If you tell yourself it's going to be alright, your whole mindset can change. Just shake it off. And dance your little heart out.

Grateful heart

Monday, August 18, 2014

It's often hard to start off the week with a grateful heart. But even in the midst of this messy life, there are so many blessings.

Today, I am grateful for...

+ The beautiful grace of God.
+ End of summer rain.
+ This wonderful blogging community.

What are you grateful for today?

High Five For Friday

Friday, August 15, 2014

Happy Friday y'all!

With all the bad + sad things that have been going on in the world lately, I think it's especially important to be thankful for the little things and spend time doing things that are important to us.

So, here are some of my favorite happy moments from this week, in no particular order....

1// I've been getting into jewelry making lately. I'm no professional by any means, but it's fun to dip into different things.

2// MTV has been playing reruns of The Hills and now my dvr is happily stocked with episodes. LC takes me back to simpler times.

3// Trying to soak up the "beginning of the end" of summer as much as possible.

4// I've been trying to get more in a "professional" mindset with this little blog and my writing in general. I've gotten pretty good at pretending to be a grownup......

5// I had been searching for the perfect watch for quite some time. Michael Kors was my #1 choice, but my wallet just did not agree. And then, suddenly, I found it. You know how people say you'll know which wedding dress is "the one" right when you see it? That's what happened with this watch. I can't stop staring.

I hope a wonderful weekend awaits you!

Sparks of madness

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Today, my heart is broken and there is little to say. I'm not going to tell you all the things about suicide I'm sure you've heard so many times before. But I am going to tell you that if you're struggling, please talk. Speak out. Ask for help. It will be one of the hardest things you ever do, but it will be so worth it.

The world is a little less funny now, but always remember this:

"You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." -Robin Williams.

You are so very loved.

Darling, there's no such thing

Monday, August 11, 2014

I've been in a bit of a writing funk the past few days. If you blog, I know you know what I mean. Most times ideas will flow through your brain like there's no tomorrow, but sometimes the ideas are few and far between.

There have been times when I don't know what to write and get tempted to just throw something together, but I'd much rather just not have anything for the day than something that my heart wasn't totally in. I'll be the first to admit that I put too much pressure on myself to be perfect and write perfect things.

Today was supposed to be an outfit post. I didn't like the photos or the way I looked in them. It wasn't "perfect" so I gave up on it.

The concept of perfect is abstract, but there really is no such thing. There is no perfect life. Perfect body. Perfect wardrobe. Perfect writing. Perfect anything. We can only be the best version of ourselves. Live your life with grace instead of striving to be perfect. Do you. There's no one better.

Eight things the Gilmore Girls taught me

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

I'm not sure you could call each time I watch Gilmore Girls again a "rewatch", because in reality my entire life is just one big Gilmore Girls rewatch. You could say though, that I've learned a lot from Lorelai and Rory over the years. For instance....

1// Our hearts can make us do stupid things. It's okay. Learn from it.

2// In the case of failure, you can marry rich. At least there's options.

3// You must always have enough coffee in your system to keep your limbs working. Otherwise, there could be some serious consequences.

4// Never underestimate the power of friendship. Sometimes the most unlikely person can become one of your best friends.

5// We're living in an underrated punk pop star's world. This is a complicated life, after all.

6// It's okay to not be okay. Life gets messy and sometimes you just gotta fall down. You also gotta pick yourself back up.

7// Boys got ya down? There's plenty of Chinese food to go around. Bonus: It never forgets to call you.

8// Never be ashamed of needing your mom. She is, after all, the very best friend a girl could have.
