Previously on Pretty Little Liars... Scream For Me

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

There is so much that I want to know, but I don't know any of it, and it kills me. That may be some philosophical quote or something, but it's really just how I feel after every PLL episode. Nothing makes sense to me and I have to write it all out. If you don't want spoilers, don't read this. For real.

First things first, Ezra wasn't in this episode and I was sad. Okay, now onto the good stuff.

This season has been extra good but also extra confusing. Like the whole thing with Bethany. I don't understand what the whole dynamic was supposed to be between her and Mrs. DiLaurentis. I mean I know that's what the girls are trying to find out, but none of the clues really make sense. Part of me still thinks it's the Ali twin theory like in the books, and the other part of me insists that it's too simple of a theory to be the real thing.

Can I just say that Aria's mom has a seriously bad taste in men? First Aria's dad cheats on her, and now her new fiance is hitting on her teenage daughter's friend. Gross. Also, I usually don't get mad at Aria, but not believing Hanna when she told her about the being hit on thing was not pretty. Come on Montgomery.

Speaking of Hanna, the poor girl keeps going down this spiral and honestly I don't know what it's gonna take to get her out of it. I am so glad Caleb's back but that's not enough for her right now. Nothing seems to be enough for her right now.

Alison, what are you doing?? She actually had Noel Khan break into Hanna's house to scare her mom just to make her believe Alison's story? I don't buy it. I think there's more there, because there's always more with Ali.

I wish I could like.. tap into the writers' minds and be able to figure out every single thing going on. But then again, I've been wishing that for five seasons now.

Tumblr Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! Or in Kaeleen World, Pretty Little Liars day. Tumblr Tuesday is back... with no theme today because honestly, my tumblr is mostly a random mess of things.

Kinda like my life. {Cue comedy drum}

Anyway, here's some things I'm loving.

Don't you like you? 'Cause I like you.

Monday, July 28, 2014

I feel like in this society, everybody tries so hard. I'll be the first to admit that I do. But really, when you think about it, what's the point?

Who are you trying for? It's rarely for our own selves. It took me a long time to realize the belief that you have to fit into a certain mold or do certain things to be beautiful is a straight up lie. However, it's a lie that's easy to get caught up in and hard to get out of.

But here's the truth: Being who you really are is the most beautiful thing you can be. You don't have to try so hard, love. The people that truly matter are the ones that look at you like you're so special, because you are.

I hope you do.

My favorite... lipsticks

Thursday, July 24, 2014

L'oreal Colour Riche in 179 Cherry Tulle
Maybelline Color Sensational in 615 Summer Sunset
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 030 Smitten
Maybelline Color Sensational in 870 Shocking Coral

I'm a bit of a lipstick hoarder. I can't help myself. The concept of putting all kindsa different pretty colors on your lips make me swoon a little bit. Even with all the different lipsticks I own, I still have a few that are the "go to" and I thought I'd share them with you!

Colour Riche: This is my most recent lipstick purchase and I must say I kind of love it. It's one of those "in the middle" reds; not too bright and not too dark and the perfect mix of flirty and sophisticated. The color glides on very smoothly and lasts quite awhile.

Color Sensational: Maybelline is no doubt one of my favorite makeup brands {they didn't pay me to say this, promise!} and there's a reason why two of their colors are on the list. I keep Summer Sunset on my dresser, ready for me to swipe on as I'm getting ready to go somewhere. It's perfect for simple things like errands, but you can also use it as a statement when you need to and I love that. The one on the far right, Shocking Coral, may look a little "worn in," because I wear it a lot. It's definitely shocking coral, so it's more of a summer color. {it's getting a lot of use these days} I think the thing I like most about this color is how long lasting it is. Sometimes I'll forget I'm even wearing it and then I look in the mirror and what do you know, it's still there. If you're looking for a long lasting bright, this is it.

Just Bitten: This lipstick is different for me, as it's the only balm stain I own. This one stays tucked away in my purse, because it's perfect for "touching up." It's smooth and pretty. Plus it smells like mint, so you can't go wrong there.

What are your favorite lipsticks?

Kate Spade love

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

I absolutely adore Kate Spade. If it were possible, I think I might just own everything Kate Spade ever. Unfortunately, that is not possible and even my budget agrees. So instead, I just sit here and dream about all the KS things I would buy.

I kid.

That's not all I do.

But I have put together a few of the things that would be first on my list....

Jump then fall

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Jump then fall. That short little sentence seems so easy to do when Taylor Swift sings it, but in reality it's not so simple. I cannot count the number of times that I should have jumped, but chose not to because fear was holding me back. That's not the kind of life anyone should live.

If you know me behind this little blog, then you probably know that I have anxiety. If you didn't know that, now you do. For me, taking the easy way has seemed like the only option for many years. I remember going to sleepovers as a kid, only to end up calling my mom in the middle of the night to come and get me simply because I was out of my comfort zone. Looking back I wonder how much I missed out on by not riding out the night with my friends. I think that was the beginning of my "play it safe" attitude. If I stick close to what I know, play it safe, then I can't get hurt or fail, right?

I feel like that way of thinking has stopped me from doing a lot of things over the years. There have been many times when I've had opportunities to do really fun things and even though part of me wanted to do them, I ended up saying no and staying with the "safe" route. Why would I want to go out and do things and talk to people when I could be at home? I would rather snuggle under my covers with some sweet tea and Gilmore Girls. Part of that's the anxiety, and part of it's just my personality. I've always been a homebody and an introvert, and that's okay. What's not okay is always hiding under the covers, away from the world. Life will pass you by without you even realizing it.

My sister told me not too long ago, "The things that scare you are the things you should do." That, of course, comes with a limit. If you're scared of the things you want to do because they're say, not legal, then you probably shouldn't do them. I'm talking about the good kind of scary, if there is such a thing. Your dreams, the things you've thought about for so long but tucked away into a little box in the back of your mind because even thinking about those things terrifies you. For me, it's on a smaller scale as well, something as simple as gathering up the courage to go into a new social situation. How will you ever meet new people if you don't talk to them?

I think part of recovering, from anything really, is saying yes to things that scare you. Getting out of your comfort zone is not very fun to think about, but I think it's the only way sometimes. Take baby steps to your goals, whether it's talking to a cute boy or going somewhere you haven't been before. Jump and fall into new adventures. Push yourself. {healthily}
Making memories is a wonderful part of life and you should never let anxiety or other things that you deal with keep you from living beautifully.

For cloudy days

Monday, July 21, 2014

The weather has been a bit cooler and cloudier the last few days than normal, which definitely doesn't happen often during the middle of a Texas summer. I'm not complaining, I mean I actually got to wear a cardigan.

The kind of weather that's perfect to me is the kind where you can warm up a bit with a cardigan, but are still able to wear shorts. The down side to the clouds, of course, is that my eyes sometimes freak out. {Allergy sufferers, ya feel me?} Luckily I can just throw on my glasses, which is what I had to do in this case.

I don't know, it's kind of fun to use eye wear as an accessory sometimes.

Style Saturdays: Rachel Bilson

Saturday, July 19, 2014

Rachel Bilson has been one of my major style inspirations for years. In fact, I still have pinterest-worthy photos of her hanging in my closet from before pinterest was a thing. Her looks have always been timeless and pretty.

She knows how to pair accessories well and is always working those blazers.

Her character Zoe Hart always has great style as well, always looking perfectly yet effortlessly put together. Every episode I'm left wanting to reach through the television and grab her wardrobe. Here are some of my favorite "Zoe" looks...

I can't decide if I like her regular style or character style more. Maybe it's a tie. She wears everything fabulously, and now that she's pregnant I can't wait to see how she wears her bump!

What's your favorite Rachel look?

A place for the magic

Thursday, July 17, 2014

My lil workspace is officially all finished! I love blogging + writing from here. It's crazy how much a desk and some pretty things can make a difference.

One of my favorite things about it is the fact that my record player is right next to the desk. I love putting on an album and working to the music.

I wanted inspiring things hanging from the wall. My mom does this cool thing where she takes the front off of Christmas cards and uses them as gift tags, and that gave me the idea of framing the fronts of pretty cards. I'm kind of a greeting card hoarder, so I had plenty to choose from and I decided to pair them with a couple of other wall hangings.

The drawer is quite unorganized right now, but that's what drawers are for, right?

I use the handy magazine holder {from Target, of course} for notebooks and my blog planner. Also, I added a little more to my cute pen holder with some washi tape.

I like having a couple of magazines sitting on the top of the desk for inspiration, and a cute little knickknack in the corner.

I might add or change things as time goes on, but for now this is where the {sometimes} magic happens. I think it's pretty wonderful.
